The recover deleted files Info Guidebook

Recover deleted files is what we will be taking a look at in this article. If you're brand new to the subject it is a fantastic place to begin. If you would like a more detailed study there's a lot more info available.

Data Recovery And File Recovery Tools

By Sam Roberts

Data recovery is used when serious situations and accidents occur to your system, like when hard drives has been formatted, or if you accidentally delete a file that you really need, which is no impossible, or it can also be used when a virus enters your system and deletes some of your files and information. The great thing is that any data recovery software works sufficiently with most computers and operating systems.

You can use data recovery software to recover information from your local hard drive, your extra hard drive, a floppy disk, a removable or portable hard drive, memory cards, and in most cases you could even use it to recover information from old CD’s. In addition a hard drive crash is no match for data recovery software. The other great thing is that you will be able to recover basically every piece of information that was on you hard drive like your email messages, video files, music and photos and obviously your data files and documents.

There are two main ways of retrieving lost data using a data recovery software, one being when the file you are retrieving has been recently deleted, the other option is to recover everything that has been on the hard disk and from there you find what you are looking for.

There are many different data recovery software programs you can use to recover your files; some of them even let you browse through your deleted files to see what you would like to retrieve. There are processes that can recover and restore your deleted files in seconds! Once the data has been recovered from you hard drive you have the option to either save it to another folder on a different hard drive or storage device, or you can burn it directly to CD. Once your files have been successfully recovered by the data recovery software, all your information stays the same, which is to say that nothing will have been changed, even in the event of a virus overload, the file names and all the date will still be in tact.

Your lost files can be restored in one click and they can be stored by name, size or date of saving. A search session also gets saved to a disk file that is used later for reloading so that the drive will not need to be scanned again, which makes the restoration process so much easier and quicker.

Majority of the data recovery software programs are offered as free demo version. You can easily download the software from the internet and try how it works.

Losing Company Data: Server (RAID) Data Recovery

By James Wallis

The average computer user is familiar with the basic use of a computer but may not really understand what goes on behind the scenes. We understand that data is an important feature but how it is stored and what happens with it are things a lot of us are clueless about. We even use the terms hard drive, software, server etc. without too much thought about what each is. As long as the computer functions, we are happy to be ignorant.

Servers

Appropriate software is the core of the system that makes a computer function. A piece of hardware is referred to as the server but, actually, what it means is that this hardware is running one or more pieces of server software. Requests are sent to a server by a “client”. An example of a client is the garden variety Web browser, typically used as client to a Web server. The Internet and Intranets have resulted in a wide variety of servers. In fact, networks are the backbone of client/ server relationships.

Types of Servers

Typically, there are different kinds of servers, each dedicated to a particular role. There are Web servers, Application servers, Proxy servers, e-mail servers, DHCP servers, fax servers and firewalls. It actually sounds more complicated than it is and the average user needs to understand just the basic functioning of servers.

Web Servers

A Web server functions in a very straightforward manner. A client makes a request, perhaps for a file, and the role of the Web server is to get the file and send it to the client. The Web server is usually not conditioned to read or scan the file but just transfers it to a client, when a request is made. However, modern Web servers are more sophisticated and can multi-task at great speed.

Application Servers

An application server is also known as an information server. These servers have an amazing capacity to process information. The applications server’s potential is maximised by using it with existing technologies. An open source developer might connect an Apache Web server with PHP scripting language. Simply put, however, an application server is a bundled solution that contains all the necessary component technologies needed. Application servers are useful for some organizations as it eases development by unifying development models.

Proxy Servers

Proxy servers do not require a client to have Internet access at all. Proxy servers are a popular way to bridge a local network to an external network. This is possible as long as one computer, which is running the proxy server, is linked. Proxy servers can be configured to allow or deny particular types of network requests. It takes on the guise of a firewall and can inspect each piece of data that passes through its defined territory.

RAID

RAID stands for Redundant Array of Independent Drives or Redundant Array of Inexpensive Drives. It refers to computer data storage schemes. These schemes divide and replicate data among multiple hard disk drives. The focus of RAID is to increase data reliability and increase input/ output performance. Originally, there were five standard levels of RAID but newer variations have increased the number.

RAID uses special hardware or software to combine physical hard disks into single logical units. RAID drives are presented as single drive applications by software solutions which are implemented in the operating system.

RAID Concepts

There are three definitive concepts in RAID. They are — mirroring, striping and error correction. Mirroring refers to the copying of data to more than one disk. The splitting of data across more than one disk is known as striping. Error correction refers to redundant data being stored to allow detection and resolution of problems. Depending on system requirements, different RAID levels use one or more of these techniques. RAID ensures reliability, data protection and speed.

RAID Data Recovery

Reconstructing RAID is not easy. There can be many reasons that lead to the software being unable to create the correct setting to ensure a properly constructed array. However, luckily, there are always solutions to most technological problems. There are software available in the market that will be able to recreate the correct settings. Even if one is not familiar with RAID parameters like drive order or block size, there are software available that can analyze the drives and determine correct values. Once this is done, a user will be able to create a copy of the reconstructed RAID on a physical drive.

Data Recovery: Getting Rid Of Data Recovery Myths

By Jane Wyvern

There is a lot of mythology surrounding the idea of data recovery. People have to go through it when they delete some important files by accident off their hard drives. You’ll probably also see forum posts from people wondering what to do about their lost data after a computer crash. There are plenty of so-called experts on data recovery that would answer them, somewhat annoyingly, with: “Did you make a back-up?” Nope. And now your only history paper has gone down the tubes.

The theory holds that: If it’s gone, it’s gone forever.

The fact is, however, that in most cases concerning data recovery, that statement isn’t exactly true. Unless the data has been physically overwritten, it has not completely disappeared. It doesn’t matter whether it was deleted accidentally, went corrupt because of a virus, or a disk got formatted accidentally—data in a system is very clingy.

So what’s really going on? Well, it’s not so much that the data is “lost.” In reality, it just cannot be accessed by normal means. Let’s say, for example, that your project, “American History,” was in a file that was accidentally deleted. Don’t think that you’ll have to re-do those many hours of research to get a passing grade on your final. Your file, in fact, is still contained in the drive, only now it has a signature byte added to start of its filename.

Now for the tricky part. Your file will stay on the drive, but as soon as you save something new, this new data occupies the space of the signatured file. That means that, if you do happen to lose files, don’t save anything new so you’ll keep the file you’ve deleted intact and ready to be recovered.

So there’s one important thing to keep in mind with data recovery: don’t ever put in new data following the accidental deletion of a file.

Did you learn from this lesson? Let’s now move along to another myth we should get rid of.

It won’t hurt to install data recovery software, will it?

It’s a simple answer to this one: NO. Even though data recovery software is all the rage nowadays and running it yourself on the drive can seem like a good idea, you should NOT do this. You can use the data recovery software you downloaded, but make sure it’s run on a separate drive that’s working properly.

Don’t forget Lesson #1: Don’t ever put in new data on your drive. Even a mere one-megabyte from some data recovery software might harm your chances at a successful data recovery.

There are “experts” that can recover and reload data.

This is actually true. There are experts out there, but even they are humbled by a drive that’s been significantly physically damaged and in which there is absolutely no hope of recovering data. Also, they can’t restore data completely back to 100%. Remember, they’re experts, not sorcerers.

And if you’re looking for the best way to make sure you don’t lose files, then here’s the most proven method: back everything up.

Data Recovery: Do You Really Want To Go There?

By David Faulkner

Data recovery. Let’s hope you are never, ever, ever faced with the task of serious data recovery. If you are, it probably means your hard drive is blasted and you precious computer folders and files are nowhere to be found. Your passwords, your photographs, your secret musings, or even worse, your critical business files, bank statements, invoices, and tax records are all being held hostage in a foreign sector of cyberspace, waiting for your data recovery operation to begin.

And it didn’t have to happen. Data recovery is necessary because you just never had the time to unwrap a CD, insert it in your D: drive, and back up all those personally cherished and professionally essential files. So here you are, wondering exactly how to begin the process of data recovery.

You can start by finding the name and number of some data recovery specialists. If you have access to a functional computer with an Internet connection, just run a search on data recovery specialists and try to find one in your area. Data recovery is big business, and there are data recovery specialists everywhere there are personal computers.

When you’ve located a specialist, you can extract your fired hard drive from your PC and either take, or ship it, to the data recovery center. At the center, a data recovery specialist will examine your hard drive’s memory to determine how much of your data is recoverable, and call you with the results and the estimated cost of getting it retrieved.

The data recovery process isn’t cheap, because it requires your hard drive to be worked on in a clean room, which has to be kept completely dust free. And the data recovery specialist has to use extremely precise instruments with meticulous care to salvage as much of your data as possible, so data recovery is a slow, tedious process.

Some masters of the data recovery process have been known to salvage the files from computers which have been tire food for heavy equipment or dropped into water. Hopefully your hard drive has not been subjected to that sort of abuse, and you will have a relatively”normal” data recovery process. For more info see http://www.pcdatarecoveryhelp.com on hard drive.

Of course, the words “data recovery” may not yet apply to you. If you’ve been lucky enough to dodge that particular Information Age bullet, consider yourself lucky. Then break out that shiny new CD, insert it in your D: drive, select all the folders and files that matter to you, and start copying.

Recovery specialists are professionals in getting your beloved files back to you safe and sound. They take your hard drive apart piece by piece in a clean room and recover each and every file they can from your drive. A skilled data recover specialist can even work such magic on computers that have been accidentally submerged in water or run over by heavy equipment. No matter how much information you have on your drives, a data recovery service can help you get it all back to you in one piece – confidentially and securely.

The Importance Of Data Recovery Services In An Increasingly Data-Reliant World

By James Walsh

“Data recovery experts are the technological doctors and nurses of desktop or laptop hard drives” according to the BBC.

In so far as the 21st century is concerned, the transfer of attributes between computers and humans has been mutual. In the UK, it is not only the people who are susceptible to the consequences of a highly digitised culture; computers are also acquiring personal traits of their own. This intense humanisation of digital devices is not restricted merely to the production line. People owning them also tend to share an intense relationship with them. Computers have redefined the concept of personal space, which has shrunk to the level of being a subset of cyber space. This mutual cohabitation exposes the computers to human foibles and weaknesses, the consequences of which may sometimes be disastrous. Like humans, computers are also prone to accidents and data disasters due to reasons which are sometimes technological or are the result of human negligence and rage. Although computer malfunction remains the number one cause for data losses in the UK, human error seems to be a growing problem. Laptop computers are especially likely to get damaged with people leaving them on buses, gardens, and pubs.

Herein comes the role of data recovery. Poetically, it may be defined as an attempt to rescue a computer’s soul. Technically, it stands for restoring data from disks, tapes, CDs and digital memory cards that have been damaged by accidents, natural disasters, power surges and malfunctioning electronics. Data may sometimes be accidentally deleted and lost. However, once a file is deleted, that data still remains intact in the hard drive. The Operating System simply enters the file as deleted in the File Allocation Table (FAT) and conveys to the Operating System that the space allocated to the file is available for writing. This space is then marked as free space and new data may be written on it. Before this space is occupied by a new file i.e. before the deleted file is overwritten, the data is intact and recoverable. However, once the file is overwritten, the process of data recovery becomes cumbersome. If the data is lost due to other reasons like physical or logical damage, data recovery is possible. Physical damage to the storage media can occur due to a number of reasons involving mechanical and electronic failures and inevitably results in some data loss. Logical damage may occur due to power disruption, electrostatic discharge (ESD), etc, that may prevent the file from being completely written to the storage medium. The result is that the file system is left in an inconsistent state. Various programmes are available to correct these inconsistencies and most operating systems come with at least a basic repair tool for their native systems.

Physical or logical damage of media is mostly irreparable by the shelf users. It needs Class 100 Clean Room facilities and technical expertise. Hence the data recovery specialists are required to handle such a delicate task. Two main approaches are followed by data recovery technicians. First involves scanning the logical structure of the disk to ensure that it is consistent with its specifications. The second approach for file systems repair is to assume very little about the state of the file system to be analysed and using any hints that any undamaged file systems may provide, rebuild the file system from scratch. Lost data is not one hundred percent recoverable but data recovery technicians can often recover a surprisingly high percentage of data from the damaged media. The process of data recovery is becoming increasingly difficult. The disk drives being manufactured now have the parameters unique to them stored on them at the time of manufacture. If the drive gets damaged in the areas containing the drive information, it may not be possible to repair them by simply replacing the parts.

In the UK, there are a number of concerns offering data recovery services, targeting businesses and individuals who have a high demand for their lost data. Fields data recovery happens to be the topmost brand in this field. It offers a 24- hour data recovery lifeline and its no-charge services include consultation, bench test, return shipping, evaluation services, analysis, fixed price quotation and after sales support. Field’s engineers have fourteen years of experience in recovering data from all forms of digital media and are officially approved by leading hard drive manufactures. Top industry professionals choose and recommend Fields. Fields data recovery solutions are faster and more economical than any other company in the UK. Besides, Fields enjoys an international reputation. Fields data recovery allows one to have faith in ones’ computers.

Data Recovery/Datenrettung & Securing Data On Computers

By Keith George

Data recovery or Datenrettung is the process by which the data is recovered from damaged or inaccessible storage media. Data recovery is done from storage media like CD?s, DVD?s, Floppies, Hard disks, Magnetic tapes etc. There are two reasons due to which the data becomes inaccessible. They are logical damage and physical damage to the storage media.

Physical damage to storage media can occur in many ways. Magnetic tapes can break, get crumpled or dirt may settle on the tapes. CD?s and DVD?s can have scratches or the metallic layer may get damaged. Magnetic heads in hard disks can crash or motors may fail. The floppy is notorious for failing frequently due to bending, overheating, cold, dust etc.

There are other reasons like fires, electrical surges etc that can cause data to become inaccessible or lost. There are many methods by which data can be recovered from magnetic media or optical media. The methods most commonly used are Magnetic Force Microscopy (MFM), Scanning Probe Microscopy (SPM), Magnetic Force Scanning Tunneling Microscopy (STM) etc.

In these methods a sharp magnetic tip is placed closed to the surface to be analyzed. It interacts with the stray magnetic field. An image of the data is generated and then repairs are carried out on logical damage and thus the data is recovered. Many companies carry out data recovery.

Logical damage is the damage to the file system. It is not physical but a software problem and also tells us that we need to be cautious and have a quality system for data recovery, datenrettung. It generally occurs due to power cuts, system crashes etc preventing file system structures from being written resulting in file system being left in an inconsistent state.

Logical damage is more common than physical damage. This may cause strange behavior like infinitely recurring file directories, loss of data, system crashes, hard disks reporting negative space etc. The end result is that the operating system cannot mount the file system.

Most operating systems come with repair facilities like, Linux has fcsk utility, Mac has disk utility and Windows has chkdisk facility. There are other specialized programs available which have better repair facilities than the operating systems.

There are also other systems called journaling file systems like NTFS, EFS (used in Windows XP), ext3 and xfs which can be reverted back to their earlier consistent state. These file systems reduce the amount of data loss.

Data back up is the best way to prevent loss of data and it?s the most common system for data recovery, datenrettung. The simplest method is to keep data on drives on which the operating system is not loaded. The other method is to write data on magnetic tapes, CD’s or DVD?s or have online backup.

Backups are very important for databases. Data backup is of 3 types. Full backup means backing up all data. Incremental backup means backing up of only the files that have changed. Differential backup is a mixture of these two. There is another method called continuous data protection in which when data is written to a disk, it is also written to another computer in a network.

Most private persons with a computer do nothing in advance, they just use their computers. Too late, when an incident has happened they learn about data recovery or datenrettung.
